Canadian Bridge has burned 428 acres, burning 5 miles north of Borger.

The Canadian Bridge Fire started on the afternoon of February 18, 2026 approximately 5 miles northwest of Borger, Texas and was initially responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local fire departments.
This fire started during a period of elevated fire weather, including higher than normal temperatures, low relative humidity and strong winds out of the southwest, is supporting elevated fire behavior where dry to critically dry vegetation is present on the fire.
The fire became 100% contained at 428 acres on February 19, 2026. This is the final planned update for the Canadian Bridge Fire.
