Cat Canyon Fire 2025
Cat Canyon Fire is the 3rd-largest wildfire this season in Nevada, burning 16 miles northeast of Beatty.
Latest update
Firefighters are managing the Cat Canyon Fire using a confine and contain strategy, rather than full suppression. This approach considers the area's terrain, fuel conditions, and resource availability, aiming to safely manage fire activity within established control lines while minimizing firefighter exposure and protecting identified values at risk. The fire is currently burning within the footprint of the 2021 Cherrywood Fire, which is primarily fine, easy-to-consume fuels.
Smoke may remain visible at times as interior fuels burn. Fire activity may increase with changes in weather conditions such as wind and low humidity. Public and firefighter safety remains the highest priority.
This page will be updated if significant changes or emerging events occur.
Remember
Current fire restrictions in Southern Nevada, effective since June 12, 2025, prohibit open fires, fireworks, and tracer ammunition on public lands, and these measures remain in place to prevent further fire starts.
