Wildfire Status:
The Railroad-Daly Fire, which began on July 25, 2024, and the Daly Fire, which started on August 18, 2024, are currently active in the Bitterroot and Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forests, located southeast of Hamilton, Montana. As of the latest reports, the total area affected by both fires is approximately 13,076 acres, with the Daly Fire accounting for 11,493 acres and the Railroad Fire covering 1,583 acres. The incident is being managed by a Type 4 Incident Team.
Firefighting efforts have been supported by cooler temperatures and recent snowfall, which have significantly aided containment efforts. Currently, fire activity is minimal, primarily smoldering, and the fires are now in a patrol status. A total of 10 personnel are actively monitoring the situation, while suppression repair plans are being developed to address any damage caused by firefighting operations on both national forests.
Weather conditions have played a beneficial role, with cooler air and moisture limiting fire behavior. The expected outlook remains stable, with minimal fire activity projected as the incident transitions into a more secure management phase.
