Grave Butte Fire (IDNCF)

Wildfire Status:

The Grave Butte Fire, detected on July 29, 2024, is currently burning approximately 10 acres in extremely inaccessible terrain, located ten miles west of Jerry Johnson Campground and half a mile from National Forest Service Road #107 (Saddle Camp Road). This wildfire was sparked by lightning and has been influenced by outflow winds from surrounding thunderstorms. The fire is actively managed by the Powell Ranger District Fire Management, which is coordinating response efforts in the area.

As of August 22, 2024, there are no official closures, but fire management authorities are urging the public to avoid National Forest Service Road #107 to ensure safety due to increased traffic from fire response resources. The current weather conditions and terrain challenges are complicating firefighting efforts, making it difficult to access the fire's location directly.
