Wildfire Status:
The Line Fire, located in the San Bernardino National Forest, is currently 100% contained as of December 23, 2024. Firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service, along with local agencies like the City of Highland and San Bernardino County, successfully managed the fire after initial reports of several acres burning on September 5, 2024. The response involved deploying multiple fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters to control the blaze effectively.
Weather conditions have played a significant role in the firefighting efforts. As of the latest updates, the area is experiencing favorable conditions, which have contributed to the successful containment of the fire. There are currently no evacuation orders in place, as warnings for nearby communities, including Seven Oaks and Angelus Oaks, have been lifted. Evacuation shelters and animal shelters have also closed due to the repopulation of affected communities.
Road closures remain in effect, with State Route 330 closed northbound from Highland Avenue to Highway 18 for repairs. However, State Route 38 is open in both directions. Additionally, the San Bernardino National Forest has issued a closure order surrounding the fire area, restricting public access to all National Forest lands, trails, and roads within that zone. Fire agencies are also conducting post-fire assessments to evaluate the impact on the burned areas, which is crucial for recovery and future risk mitigation.
