Wildfire Status:

As of October 20, 2024, the Bridge Fire in the Angeles National Forest is reported to be 99% contained, despite growing by 346 acres since the previous Friday. Firefighters are primarily focused on securing the Iron Fork Canyon area, where they face challenging conditions in rugged terrain. Improved weather conditions, characterized by reduced winds, have allowed State Route 39 (San Gabriel Canyon Rd) to reopen to the public. However, the road remains closed to non-residents, as California Highway Patrol officers manage traffic in the area.

Firefighting efforts include aerial support, with aircraft successfully dropping water on hot spots during the night. Despite the containment status, firefighters continue to monitor for flare-ups due to the potential for strong Santa Ana winds in the coming days, which could exacerbate fire activity. Residents are urged to report any visible smoke or flames by dialing 9-1-1, as unburned vegetation within the perimeter may still ignite.
