Pack Trail Fire (WYBTF)

Wildfire Status:

The Pack Trail Fire, which was ignited by lightning on September 15, 2024, is currently located 23 miles southeast of Moran, Wyoming, straddling the Bridger-Teton and Shoshone National Forests. The fire has a reported size of approximately 89,930 acres, with containment efforts reaching 95%. Fire management has employed a dual strategy of 50% confine and 50% point-protection, effectively suppressing the majority of the fire. The area remains under patrol and monitoring status due to lingering interior smoke and heat, although winter weather is expected to further reduce fire activity.
