The Horse Fire, reported on June 13, 2025, is currently active in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, approximately 10 miles west of Merna, Wyoming. The fire has grown to around 400 acres and is burning through heavy downed timber and slash. As of the latest updates, the fire is exhibiting signs of single tree torching and creeping, with no portion of its perimeter contained. The incident was sparked by lightning and is situated near the confluence of South Horse Creek and Cow Creek.

Firefighting efforts are underway, with a Type Three Incident Management Organization ordered to manage the situation. Currently, there are about 25 personnel on the ground combating the fire, with resources including two hotshot crews and two Type 1 helicopters expected to assist in the response. The fire has shown significant activity, particularly on two sides, with reports of it spotting over the 2055A Road to the west.

Weather conditions are a critical factor in the firefighting efforts. On the evening of June 13, temperatures ranged from the 40s to 50s, with 50% relative humidity. However, forecasts indicate a rise in temperature to around 75 degrees on Saturday, with relative humidity dropping to between 22-28%. Winds are also expected to pick up, with speeds of 10-15 miles per hour and gusts reaching up to 30 mph, which may further challenge containment efforts. The situation remains dynamic as fire agencies continue to assess and respond to the evolving conditions.
