Leeds Creek (WYBTF)

Wildfire Status:

The Leeds Creek Fire, which has burned approximately 780 acres in the Pinedale Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest, is currently 75% contained. Fire crews have made significant progress in suppressing the blaze, aided by recent moisture in the area. The incident began on August 1, 2024, and the estimated date for full containment is projected for August 31, 2024. Currently, there are nine personnel actively involved in firefighting efforts, with a focus on securing handlines and initiating suppression and repair work.

In light of the ongoing wildfire, a closure order for the Leeds Creek Area, including roads and trails, has been implemented to ensure the safety of both the public and firefighting crews. However, Union Pass Road and South Fork Fish Creek Trail remain open. A reroute for the Continental Divide Trail has also been established to accommodate for safety measures.

Weather conditions in the area are currently favorable for firefighting efforts, with minimal fire spread expected. Thunderstorms and higher gusts are forecasted over the next few days, but they are not anticipated to significantly impact the fire's behavior. Fire officials remain vigilant, monitoring the situation and adjusting response strategies as necessary.
