Wildfire Status:
The Bear Fire, located in the Tahoe National Forest just south of Sierra Brooks, was reported at 2 p.m. on September 2, 2024. As of September 11, the fire has burned approximately 3,323 acres and is currently 100% contained. The cause of the fire remains undetermined and is under investigation. Fire agencies have been actively engaged in managing the situation, with a total of 207 personnel deployed to the scene. The incident is being overseen by an incident command team comprising experienced US Forest Service members.
Fire crews have successfully kept the fire within its established footprint, focusing on full suppression efforts. They are implementing suppression repairs on roads and fire lines while mitigating potential hazards from downed trees in the area.
