Vees Fire (2025-07-29)

Vees Fire acreage revised down to 4,113 acres from earlier 4,500-acre estimate after aerial reconnaissance. Fire remains 0% contained with over 200 firefighters working challenging steep terrain. Thunderstorms expected to help firefighting efforts.

BLM issued emergency closure of public lands in Washakie County affected by Vees Fire. All BLM-managed roads, trails and lands within designated area closed to unauthorized entry for public and firefighter safety.

Vees Fire grew to 4,500 acres with 0% containment. Fire burning in steep, rugged terrain with difficult access. Southeast portion particularly challenging for crews working with fast-burning fuels and dead materials. Over 100 personnel deployed.

Wyoming Interagency Management Type 3 Team assumed command of Vees Fire operations. Fire crews worked through the night in challenging terrain to slow fire spread. Public asked to avoid firefighting areas for safety.

Vees Fire burning approximately 4,000 acres with 0% containment. Public advised to avoid active firefighting areas southeast of Ten Sleep to give crews room to work safely. Worland crews assisted with nearby Tower Fire suppression.

Vees Fire ignited by lightning strike on BLM lands southeast of Ten Sleep in Washakie County. Fire crews mobilized to respond to new wildfire in steep, rugged terrain.
