July 7 - 8 a.m. update

• The Beaver Dam Fire was declared contained and controlled on Sunday, July 6
• Final fire size is 6 acres
• USFS Law Enforcement & Investigations has confirmed that lightning was the source of ignition
• Transition to a Type V Incident Commander occurred Saturday evening, July 5
• The Forest Closure Order will be rescinded today
• Fire location is in southern Carbon Co., Wyo., near the Colo./Wyo. state line, Medicine Bow National Forest. It is east of Beaver Dam Park and Forest Road 496, NE of East Fork Encampment River Trailhead
• The 2016 Broadway Fire footprint is very close, NE of the Beaver Dam Fire
• Aggressive initial response occurred on Thursday, July 3 by U.S. Forest Service, Jackson Co., Colo., and Encampment, Wyo. engines
• Operation Sky Hammer, initial attack helicopter program in the USFS Rocky Mountain Region, dumped 50,000 gallons of water on the fire with two Type I helicopters on Friday, July 4
• The fire was reported the afternoon of Thursday, July 3, 2025
