Taylor Draw Fire
Wildfire Status:
The Taylor Draw Fire, currently active in Carbon County, Wyoming, has burned approximately 1,247 acres and is located about 10 miles west of Hanna. As of now, fire agencies have successfully contained around 70% of the fire's perimeter. The incident began on June 29, 2025, and is being managed by a Type 3 team, led by Incident Commander Shawn Gettings, with plans for transitioning to local fire management by July 3, 2025.
Firefighters are focused on preventing the spread of the fire by keeping it contained south and west of the 316 Road, north of the Union Pacific Arc Road, and east of the Point of Rocks Reservoir Road. Their efforts aim to minimize impacts on critical areas, including Priority Sage Grouse habitat, oil and gas infrastructure, power lines, structures, and grazing allotments. As fire activity decreases, resources are expected to start demobilizing around July 2, 2025.
Weather conditions have improved since the fire's inception, resulting in reduced fire behavior. These moderated weather conditions are contributing positively to the ongoing containment efforts, allowing firefighters to execute their strategies with a greater chance of success while ensuring the safety of both personnel and the public.
