Quick Facts
Size: 126,940 acres Start Date: July 26, 2026 Cause: Lightning/Natural
Containment: 28% Personnel: 1,670 Location: 12 Miles W of Tonasket, WA
Situation: The fire remained active overnight, with unburned pockets of fuel continuing to burn well within the established perimeter. Fire behavior resembles late-season conditions, as fuels that would typically be unavailable for sustained spread are now actively burning several weeks ahead of schedule. Crews are reinforcing containment lines and conducting mop-up operations around structures. Individuals reentering the area should remain vigilant, as conditions can change rapidly and new evacuation orders may be issued with little notice.

Weather: Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 a.m. Friday to 11 p.m. Saturday. Dry conditions persist today with low humidity, gusty southwest winds, warm temperatures, and very dry fuels. A weak front this afternoon and evening will briefly increase west‑southwest winds. Fire danger remains elevated but is expected to gradually ease next week.
Evacuations: Stay alert, follow official instructions, and stay ready for rapid changes.
