The Neighbor Fire started on August 23, 2026, in Brown County and was responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment at 2:12 pm. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local fire departments. 

Aviation resources including Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) are being ordered to assist in suppression efforts. 

As of 2:58 pm - According to Brown County Dispatch: evacuations are taking place for CR 325 and CR 294 near Blanket. 

As of 4:25 pm - According to Brown County Sheriff's Office : County Road 329 and 325 are closed to the public.
