Combs Fire (TXTXS)

Wildfire Status:

The Combs Fire, which ignited around 8:00 PM on March 3, 2025, in Gray County near Highway 273 southeast of Pampa, has reached full containment as of March 4, 2025. The fire burned approximately 357 acres, and there have been no reported evacuations or threats to structures. Despite initial challenges posed by heavy smoke and rough terrain, the firefighting efforts proved successful, with crews effectively establishing control over the fire's perimeter.

In response to the wildfire, a collaborative effort involving multiple fire departments, including the Texas A&M Forest Service and several local volunteer fire departments, was mobilized. These teams worked under a unified command to create fire breaks and monitor the situation. Beneficial rainfall over the fire area has significantly reduced fire activity, allowing crews to further patrol the area and ensure no revival of flames is likely. As of the latest report, the south flank of the fire was secured, and there were no immediate concerns of rekindle.

A cold front and wind shift are anticipated, which the command team is preparing for by developing strategies to secure the fire's south flank.
