Flat Fire 2025
Flat Fire is the 2nd-largest wildfire this season in Oregon, burning 4 miles northeast of Sisters.

The Flat Fire began on the afternoon of August 21st approximately seven miles southwest of Culver, Oregon. Local fire departments, the Lower Bridge Rangeland Fire Protection Association, and the Central Oregon Fire Management Services Type 3 team responded and provided initial attack. Warm and windy conditions, along with low fuel moistures, led to rapid fire spread.
Oregon Governor Tina Kotek invoked the Conflagration Act on the morning of August 22nd due to threats to life and property. The Oregon Department of Forestry Complex Incident Management Team 3 and Oregon State Fire Marshal Red Team assumed unified command of the incident at 1800 on August 23rd.
Following several days of active fire behavior and point protection around homes, crews worked overnight on August 24th to fully line spot fires and slop over, and to increase hand and dozer line. 67% containment was reported on September 2nd. As of August 27th, the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office has reported that five primary residences and 11 other structures were destroyed, and two residences and two structures were damaged.
