Davis Fire (NVHTF)

Wildfire Status:

The Davis Fire, which ignited on September 7, 2024, around 2:30 p.m. in Davis Creek Regional Park, located approximately 20 miles south of Reno, Nevada, has burned a total of 5,824 acres of land, including private, state, and federal properties. The fire's rapid spread was fueled by strong winds, resulting in the destruction of two commercial buildings, 14 residences, and 22 outbuildings. Fire management has been coordinated by the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District, Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, and the Bureau of Land Management under a unified command. As of September 25, 2024, the fire has been declared 100 percent contained.

In response to the wildfire, an emergency area closure was enacted to protect both the public and firefighters. This closure includes all roads, trails, and developed recreational sites within the impacted area. The boundaries of the closure extend from Hunter Creek Trail to the north, Nevada State Route 877 (Franktown Road) to the south, the Forest boundary to the east, and U.S. Interstate to the west. Additionally, a Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team has been deployed to assess the impacts of the fire, which can take up to two weeks to complete.
