Castle Ridge Fire is the largest wildfire this season in Nevada, burning 47 miles north of Battle Mountain.

Crews made significant progress on the south and southwest end of the fire closest to the community of Midas. Crews will continue to hold and improve control lines as interior pockets of fuel continue to burn out.

10/09/2024, A.M. update: Forward spread on the fire has stopped. A Fire Prevention Order remains in effect across the state.
10/08/2024, 8:30 A.M update: The town of Midas is currently threatened with fire spread in the direction of the community less than three miles away. The Midas Mine also has several structures that are threatened.
