Whiskey Canyon Fire has burned 1,246 acres, burning 11 miles south of Battle Mountain.

Whiskey Canyon Fire ignited Monday, July 22nd and is approximately 1,246 and 50% contained. Fuels include short grass and brush.
Fire is primarily on private lands with approximately 38 acres on BLM-managed land. There are structures in the area, but none are immediately threatened.
On Monday evening, fire crews completed dozer and retardant lines around the fire perimeter. As of 7:30 A.M., July 23rd, fire behavior was minimal with creeping and smoldering. Fire control lines are in place and today, fire crews will continue to secure the fire perimeter and begin to mop up control lines (i.e., extinguish and remove burning materials).

The public is also advised that Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are in effect in central in northwest Nevada.
