Latest update
In the early afternoon on August 19, fire personnel responded to a smoke report just north of Flesher Pass. Fire personnel responded immediately utilizing both helicopters and airtankers to assist hand crews putting in direct line. Dry fuels, low humidity, and warm weather led to rapid fire growth on the Sandbar 2 fire. Please be mindful of increased fire personnel on Flesher Pass Road #279 and slow down to protect our firefighters’ safety. Please avoid stopping on the road or pullouts as this affects firefighter safety and operations. On Friday August 22, at 0700 hrs., command of the fire was transferred to Northwest Complex Incident Management Team 8, with Ed Hyatt serving as Incident Commander. On August 28, 2025, at 0700, a local Type 4 incident management organization will have taken command of the fire.
