Moose Mountain Fire is the 4th-largest wildfire this season in Idaho, burning 27 miles southwest of Superior.

Moose Mountain is a wildfire started by lightning and burning approximately 4 miles north of Kelly Forks Campground and Guard Station. The Moose Mountain Fire has burned down to the North Fork of the Clearwater River prompting a closure of that section of Forest Road #250 in Black Canyon. The evacuation level has been reduced to Level 1 "READY" for the Independence Creek and Deception Saddle communities. 

ROAD ACCESS: Forest Route 255 is now open, providing a travel route from Kelly Forks, Idaho north to Superior, Montana. While forest closures remain in place for the surrounding area, the public is welcome to travel through — but must stay on the roadway and may not leave it to access the closed forest area.

Safety Reminder: Firefighting operations and fire-affected terrain remain present along this corridor. Motorists should drive with caution, watch for fire equipment and personnel, and be alert for reduced visibility from smoke, falling snags, and debris on or near the roadway. Do not stop to access closed areas, and be prepared to yield to emergency and fire traffic at all times.
