Island Creek 2025
Island Creek is the 2nd-largest wildfire this season in Idaho, burning 30 miles east of Grangeville.

The Island Creek fire was detected the evening of July 31, 2025. The fire is burning in steep terrain on the Moose Creek Ranger District near Sob Point, approximately 14 air miles north of Elk City, ID. It is approximately 11 air miles southeast of Lowell, ID.
Operations continue to focus on suppression repair, but as Fall weather allows, some burning and smoldering may still be observed within the current perimeter. No new growth is expected.
There are no longer any closures associated with this fire, but burned area hazards such as falling trees, rolling rocks, and loose soils that can become debris flows with any heavy rain may still be present.
