Grapefruit Complex 2024

Lightning strikes started the Grapefruit Complex fires on 06/28/2024. The fires continue to burn 30 miles NE of Fairbanks on both sides of Highway 2. The fire is being periodically managed by BLM Alaska Fire Service. Smoke and flames are occasionally spotted within the fire perimeters. Fire managers anticipate that it will continue to burn until a season-ending precipitation event occurs in the region. As of July10, new updates will occur only as needed due to significantly decreased fire activity.
