Siegel Fire (WANES)

Wildfire Status:

The Siegel Fire, currently spanning 698 acres, is active and has reached 11% containment as of July 5, 2025. Firefighters have been diligently working to establish fire lines around the perimeter of the blaze, especially in challenging terrain that includes steep cliffs. The primary focus has been on mop-up operations, which involve extinguishing remaining hot spots and securing the fire lines. Firefighters are also employing aerial resources to manage flare-ups and monitor fire behavior, particularly in the northeastern section where activity has been more intense.

Today's efforts will continue with the construction and improvement of fire lines, alongside further mop-up activities. Crews are patrolling areas with minimal fire activity to ensure safety and prevent any outbreaks. It is anticipated that small amounts of fire growth may occur due to burn-out operations, which are necessary for vegetation management and overall fire safety. These operations will also increase smoke visibility in the surrounding areas.

In terms of weather conditions, temperatures are expected to be near normal with a high of 79°F and a low of 56°F. Winds will be light, coming from the southwest at 5-10 mph. Although there is a slight chance of showers, the overall forecast indicates increasing cloud cover and minimal chances of thunderstorms. Fire behavior has been observed to be minimal, consisting mainly of flanking and backing, but there is a concern that as temperatures rise over the next few days, relative humidity levels will drop, potentially increasing fire activity. Fire agencies are preparing for this by continuing their containment strategies and monitoring weather patterns closely.
