Wildfire Status:
The Tiger Creek Fire, located approximately 15 miles southeast of Walla Walla, WA, is currently active and has burned an area of 534 acres. As of the latest update, 89% of the fire's perimeter is contained. Fire behavior has been minimal, characterized by smoldering, creeping, and backing, with isolated pockets of fire burning at low intensity. The fire's growth is expected to remain minimal, with all handlines currently holding.
The response to the fire has included a personnel team of approximately 250 firefighters. They are focusing on patrol and mop-up operations, as well as assessing and implementing suppression repair tactics. Command of the incident was transferred back to the Umatilla National Forest on October 16, 2024. Future updates will be provided only if significant fire activity occurs.
Weather conditions are currently favorable for firefighting efforts, with a cold front having recently passed through the area. Today's temperatures are in the 40s to 50s, and there is a chance of lingering showers.
