Middle Fork Complex Fire: Bulldog and Nellie (IDBOF)

Wildfire Status:

The Middle Fork Complex Fire, which includes the Bulldog and Nellie fires, is currently burning in the Boise National Forest, approximately 7 miles east of Garden Valley, Idaho. As of October 24, 2024, the fire has consumed an area of 61,495 acres and is reported to be 95% contained. The incident began on August 5, 2024, following a lightning storm that sparked several fires in the region. Fire management transitioned back to the Boise National Forest on October 20, 2024, and updates will now be provided through their official channels.

Currently, there are 26 personnel assigned to the incident. The fire behavior has been characterized as minimal, with creeping, smoldering, and occasional backing. The primary fuels involved are timber and brush, with isolated patches of grass contributing to the fire's spread. Despite the active fire being largely contained, there is potential for flare-ups in areas with residual heat, particularly with surface fire and isolated torching in some regions.

Weather conditions are expected to remain stable, with high pressure bringing mild and drier air over the weekend. Temperatures are predicted to warm, accompanied by light winds that are terrain-driven. This stable air mass may impact smoke mixing heights and ventilation, but overall, the chances of significant fire growth are considered low. Planned actions include continued monitoring of fire lines, equipment backhaul, and further suppression repair efforts, with nearly all dozer and hand lines already completed.
