Simmons Fire (AZA4S)

Wildfire Status:

The Simmons Fire, currently located 4.5 miles northwest of Kearny, Arizona, is now 90% contained with no change in its size, which remains at 351 acres. The fire began on May 28, 2024, around 5:20 PM, fueled by high winds and dry conditions that exacerbated fire behavior. It has impacted both residential structures and Bureau of Land Management lands, resulting in the destruction of four primary structures and damage to five others. Fire crews are actively patrolling and monitoring the fire's edge to secure the perimeter and address any internal heat or smoke.

In terms of response, fire agencies have begun demobilizing most resources, allowing them to be reassigned to other incidents or to rest and rehabilitate. Only two engines remain actively assigned to the Simmons Fire, with a total of 12 personnel currently involved. The incident management team is focusing on maintaining control lines and reducing the risk of flare-ups as they anticipate minimal activity going forward.
