Tartar Fire is the 2nd-largest active wildfire in Idaho, burning just outside Weiser and has spread west.

The Tartar Fire, located approximately 21 miles northwest of Weiser, Idaho, was reported on July 24. The lightning-caused fire is burning in grass, brush and timber across a combination of private, Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service, and State of Idaho lands.

Great Basin Complex Incident Management Team 3 assumed command of the fire on Tuesday, July 28. Due to recent significant fire runs and anticipated growth to the north-northwest, residents and visitors should be aware of changes to public access. Visit these sites for current closure information:
