Snyder Fire is the 4th-largest active wildfire in Colorado, burning 6 miles southwest of Loma.

The Snyder Fire started on Friday, June 26th during a Red Flag Warning with gusty winds, low relative humidity and dry fuel. Engines, crews and aircraft were used during initial suppression efforts. Due to extreme fire behavior, crews were moved back to staging areas for their safety on Saturday night. Crews returned to suppression efforts when conditions improved. The Rocky Mountain Complex Incident Management Team 1 assumed command of the incident on Monday morning, June 29. Transfer of command to a Type 4 organization took place on July 8 at 6:00 p.m.
Pre-evacuations As of July 1, 2026, at 7 p.m. all pre-evacuation and evacuation notices issued in response to the Snyder Fire near Glade Park, Colorado have been lifted by the Mesa County Sheriff. Visit the Sheriff's Facebook page for current status of road closures.
