Sand Drain 2026

The Sand Drain Fire is located 18 miles northeast of Olustee, Florida on the Osceola National Forest. This human-caused wildfire started April 12th. The size remains at 56 acres and is 100 percent contained as of May 6th, 2026. The fire is currently being managed by U.S. Forest Service - National Forests in Florida personnel.

The Fire remains within established containment lines. Firefighters continue to focus on hot spot detection and hazard tree removal. Structure protection and initial attack resources remain in place.

Closures and Restrictions: 

• Columbia and Baker Counties are under a temporary burn ban. 
• Open burning of yard debris is prohibited year-round per county ordinance. 
• The Lewis D. Whitaker Osceola Shooting Range is closed until further notice per the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
