Red Bridge Road Fire (WACWC)

Wildfire Status:

The Red Bridge Road Fire, which ignited on June 9, 2025, is currently located north of Red Bridge Road and approximately seven miles east of Cle Elum, Washington. As of the latest update, the fire has consumed an estimated 53 acres and is 60% contained. The incident has involved 129 personnel who are actively engaged in containment and suppression efforts. The fire is characterized by minimal active flames, mostly smoldering in nature, and the primary fuels involved include short grass, brush, and timber litter.

Fire agencies are focusing on reinforcing containment lines and conducting mop-up operations around structures, utilizing direct strategies. They are also assessing damage and inventorying structures in the vicinity. The Incident Commander, Leonard Johnson, leads the Southeast Washington Incident Management Team, and the projected containment date is set for June 13, 2025. Despite the current containment progress, firefighters must remain vigilant due to the potential for flare-ups, particularly with expected high temperatures and wind gusts reaching up to 25 mph.

Weather conditions in the area present additional challenges. Although temperatures are predicted to cool gradually in the coming days, breezy winds are expected to redevelop, particularly through the Cascade Gaps and Columbia Basin. A Red Flag Warning is currently in effect for the Kittitas Valley, indicating heightened fire risk due to dry conditions and no forecasted precipitation. The region is experiencing drought conditions, which could further complicate firefighting efforts and increase the potential for fire activity outside of the established containment lines.
