Speirs Fire (UTASF)

Wildfire Status:

The Speirs Fire, located approximately three miles south of Dutch John, Utah, has been fully contained as of now, with 100% of its perimeter secured. The fire, which was ignited by lightning and first reported on July 13, 2024, has burned through an area of 715 acres characterized by heavy timber, downed wood, and grass understory across steep and rugged terrain. The current status of the fire is in monitor and patrol, indicating that fire agencies are maintaining vigilance to ensure that any potential flare-ups are quickly addressed.

Firefighting efforts have transitioned to a monitoring phase, with teams conducting regular patrols to ensure the stability of containment lines. Minimal significant events have been reported since the containment, suggesting that the fire is not exhibiting aggressive behavior. Planned actions include extending the containment line toward Davenport Draw to further secure the area. There is a possibility of spotting due to rollout in the steep terrain, but overall, low daytime fire behavior is expected to persist within the interior of the fire area.
