The Nebo Mountain Fire started on the afternoon of February 24, 2026 approximately 14 miles northeast of Fredericksburg, Texas, and was initially responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local fire departments.
This fire started during a period of elevated fire weather, including higher than normal temperatures, and low fuel moisture levels. These current conditions are resulting in a shift of large fire potential with brief periods of high resistance to control.
As of the evening of 2/25/26, the Nebo Mountain Fire is 100% contained. This is the last planned update for this fire.
