The Kellogg Fire started on the afternoon of February 18, 2026 approximately 3 miles sorthwest of Eldorado, Texas and was initially responded to by local fire departments. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters and heavy equipment. Texas A&M Forest Service is currently in unified command with local fire departments.
This fire started during a period of elevated fire weather, including higher than normal temperatures, low relative humidity and strong winds out of the southwest, is supporting elevated fire behavior where dry to critically dry vegetation is present on the fire.
The fire is 100% contained as of 3/1/2026. This is the last planned update for this fire.
