Lansing Wildfire 2026

The Lansing Wildfire was reported in the early morning of Thursday, June 4, 2026. The fire is currently being managed by the Forest Service, with support from the Pennsylvania DCNR, several McKean County Volunteer Fire Departments, the Crawford Erie County Wildland Fire Crew, and the PA DCNR D15 Wildland Fire Support Crew.

The wildfire is located in McKean County, within the Bradford Ranger District of the Allegheny National Forest. The entirety of the fire is burning on federal Forest Service lands, located near Forest Road 268, just east of Pennsylvania Route 321. 

[June 5, 2026 at 3:00 PM] The Lansing Wildfire is estimated at 38 acres and is 40% contained. Smoke may be visible from the area. 

[June 8, 2026 at 10:00 AM] The Lansing Wildfire remains at 38 acres and is 80% contained. The Allegheny National Forest fire staff, along with wildland fire resources from Maine and West Virginia, are continuing patrol and mop-up activities today, as weather permits. Precipitation is forecasted Wednesday, providing beneficial moisture for firefighting operations. No structures have been impacted by the fire. Smoke may still be visible, as areas are still smoldering. 

[June 9, 2026 at 10:00 AM] The Lansing Wildfire is now 90% contained. The fire has transitioned from Type 4 to a Type 5 fire, due to the reduced complexity. Resources on scene today are Allegheny National Forest fire staff, West Virginia State Type 6 engine, and Wildland Fire Service Type 6 engine from Acadia National Park, Maine. Fire personnel continue to mop-up as needed. Forecasted rain the next couple of days should assist with dry conditions. 

[June 10, 2026 at 2:00 PM] The Lansing Wildfire is now 100% contained. The area received 0.2 inches of rain in the last 24 hours, providing beneficial moisture to fuels. The Allegheny National Forest fire staff continue to monitor and mop up the effected area.
