Wildfire Status:

The fire merged with several other fires on July 28, 2024. Currently, the fire has burned 392 acres with 0% containment. The estimated containment date is October 1, 2024. The fire is primarily fueled by timber, closed timber litter, and light logging slash, contributing to moderate to active fire behavior.

The response to the fire involves scouting out existing roads and natural breaks to establish containment lines, protecting private timber company resources, and ensuring the safety of all firefighters. The weather conditions have seen seasonable temperatures with light northwest winds, leading to humidity levels of 35 to 45 percent. A weak frontal system approaching the area is expected to increase moisture levels and bring a chance of light showers and wetting rains. The fire is anticipated to remain active with pockets of active fire behavior, including smoldering, creeping, and torching in the coming days.
