Bachelor Complex Fires (ORDEF)

Wildfire Status:

The Bachelor Complex Fires, located approximately 20 miles southwest of Bend, Oregon, has shown significant improvement in conditions as of October 26, 2024. Fire activity has moderated, leading to a successful containment of 100% of its perimeter, which spans over 15,525 acres. The incident, which began on September 6, 2024, has transitioned from a Type 3 incident command to a Type 4 organization, indicating a decrease in immediate threat levels. Currently, a total of 40 personnel are managing the situation, and there are no significant events reported, with the fire primarily smoldering.

As part of the ongoing management efforts, a temporary emergency closure order is in effect for certain areas within the Deschutes National Forest. This is to ensure public safety while crews continue to monitor and manage the aftermath of the fires. The incident includes around 30 fires of varying sizes, with the largest, the Little Lava Fire, being a focal point of containment efforts. Other notable fires, such as the Backside Fire and Incident 846, have been fully contained, contributing to the overall stability of the situation.

Weather conditions have favored firefighting efforts, contributing to the fire's decreased activity. The incident management team is optimistic about the situation but remains vigilant, given the history of fluctuating fire behavior in similar conditions.
