2024 Great Basin National Park Lightning 2024

On the afternoon of July 17, 2024, a lightning storm ignited at least two fires in Great Basin National Park. Firefighting resources are responding to assess the fires.

• Mill Creek Fire: 0.1 acre, 100% contained. This fire was contained and controlled on the morning of July 18.
• Pyramid Peak Fire: 0.1 acre, natural out. Helicopter reconnaissance found no active fire at the reported location.
• Firefighters investigated a report of a fire near the junction of the Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive and the park Entrance Road, and found no active fire.
