Wildfire Status:
The Twin Cabins Wildfire, located in the Jemez Ranger District of New Mexico, has been declared 100% contained as of June 27, 2025. Initially reported on June 23, the fire burned approximately 40 acres of land covered in oak brush, ponderosa pine, and Douglas fir. Thankfully, the wildfire posed no threat to nearby people or properties, and fire crews effectively managed the situation using full suppression tactics. Aerial resources, including air tankers, were deployed to establish fire lines, while ground crews worked diligently to secure the perimeter and ensure safety.
The response from fire agencies was robust, with a total of 40 personnel involved in managing the incident. Firefighters focused on mopping up operations, extinguishing and removing burning materials near the control lines. The fire's complexity reduced over time, transitioning to a Type 5 incident, indicating a manageable situation requiring minimal resources. As of June 26, the fire line held firm, and significant precipitation helped to control the smoldering logs, leading to the eventual containment of the fire.
Weather conditions have been favorable for firefighting efforts, with mostly sunny and clear skies reported on the days following containment. However, forecasts predict showers and thunderstorms beginning on Sunday and continuing into the following week, which could affect the area. Fire agencies remain vigilant as they monitor the situation and ensure that all remnants of the fire are fully extinguished.
