North Fork Fire has burned 118 acres, burning 10 miles southwest of Hamilton.
Latest update
Aug. 21, 2026: A closure is in place at the junction of Lost Horse Road (Forest Service Road 429) and Lick Creek Road (FS 5621) due to heavy equipment traffic associated with the North Fork Fire. This closure only affects Lost Horse Road. Lick Creek Road is open.
As of July 31, the fire grew approximately 10 acres to the south and east of the perimeter burning through light vegetation down the slope. Firefighters continue actively making progress on fuel breaks that are located north of Lost Horse Road and east of the North Fork Fire. Two more hand crew modules are on order. This particular fire area is considered high-risk to insert firefighters at this fire’s edge due to safety concerns such as steep and rocky terrain, with no evacuation routes by foot or vehicle.
