At 7:00 am on Sunday August 3rd, the Type 3 IMT transferred command of the incident to a Type 4 organization. This Inciweb page will no longer be updated.
As of 7:00 pm on August 3rd, fire activity remains isolated to interior pockets and inaccessible areas. Fire behavior is limited to smoldering and creeping. Suppression Repair and backhaul are complete.
The North Rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is now open, with staff available at the Ranger Station from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm daily. Visitors to the North Rim will have access to all trails, overlooks, facilities, and the campground.
The South Rim of the Park remains closed to the public. The Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is working to identify and prioritize tasks needing to be done in order to make the South Rim safe for visitors again.
