Twin Oryx (TXTXS)

Wildfire Status:

The Twin Oryx Fire, which ignited on March 4, 2025, in La Salle County, Texas, is currently burning across 1,000 acres of open grass and mesquite fields. As of the latest updates, the fire is approximately 75% contained, with containment efforts primarily focused on constructing lines using existing ranch roads and bulldozers to prevent further spread. The fire is under the unified command of the Texas A&M Forest Service in collaboration with local fire departments, with about 60 personnel actively involved in firefighting efforts.

Firefighting operations have been challenged by extreme weather conditions, including high temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds, which have created a critical fire danger throughout the region. Wind gusts have reached 40 to 50 mph, contributing to the rapid fire spread. Although conditions are expected to improve slightly with decreased winds overnight, relative humidity levels remain critically low, which continues to pose threats for fire activity. Firefighters are utilizing strategic burning operations along control lines to manage the fire effectively, and fortunately, no structures are currently threatened due to the minimal fuel available around them.

The Texas A&M Forest Service aims to achieve full containment by March 7, 2025, as they navigate the ongoing challenges posed by the weather and terrain.
