Wildfire Status:

The Adam Mountain fire is currently active, located approximately 6 miles southeast of Dorena, Oregon. The fire began on July 17th and is being managed by the North Carolina Incident Management Team. The fire has merged with several other fires in the area, including Puddin, Quartz, Jack Saddle, White Creek, and Mineral Fires, on July 28th. The fire has consumed 12,645 acres and is only 9% contained, with an estimated containment date of October 1, 2024.

There are currently 464 personnel working on the fire, and the fire behavior is being driven by fuels and terrain. The weather conditions, including warm temperatures and lower humidity, are creating a drying trend in the fuels, leading to active fire behavior with backing and flanking fire. The outlook for the fire includes planned actions to establish containment lines and protect resources, as well as projected incident activity based on fuel and terrain conditions.

The current weather concerns include diurnally driven upslope and up valley flows, with peak gusts reaching 10 to 15 mph. High temperatures and low humidity levels are contributing to the fire behavior. Overnight, mostly clear conditions are expected with drier conditions, but good humidity recovery is anticipated. Fire agencies are actively working to control and contain the fire, taking into account the challenging weather conditions and terrain.
