The Larch Creek Fire, located approximately 10 miles southwest of Dufur, Oregon, has been active since it was first reported on July 9, 2024. The fire, which is believed to be human-caused and is currently under investigation, has rapidly spread to a size of 18,286 acres. As of the latest updates, about 81% of the fire's perimeter has been contained. Firefighters have made significant progress, and the perimeter is now fully lined, with mop-up operations ongoing until the fire is completely extinguished.

The response to the fire has involved a coordinated effort from multiple fire management teams. Initially managed by the Central Oregon Fire Management Service Type 3 team, command transitioned to the Oregon Department of Forestry Type 1 Incident Management Team and the Oregon State Fire Marshal Green Team on July 11. A total of 217 personnel are currently assigned to the incident, with plans to reinforce control lines and conduct patrols around structures and roadways. The estimated containment date is projected for August 1, 2024.

Weather conditions have been a concern for firefighting efforts, with current temperatures ranging from 89 to 94 degrees Fahrenheit and relative humidity levels around 20%.
