Wildfire Status:

The North Fire, located north of Likely, CA, has burned approximately 4,685 acres of dry rangeland grasses, Bureau of Land Management lands, and private lands. The fire is 100% contained, and the incident commander is the Northern California District of the BLM. Crews are currently working to complete the fireline in rocky and steep terrain, with 14 total personnel on the scene. The fire is wind-driven and has burned onto Modoc National Forest lands.

Weather conditions are a concern, as hot and dry weather with low relative humidity in the single digits is forecasted, along with winds. Despite these challenging conditions, crews have managed to keep the fire within containment lines. The planned actions moving forward include continued mop-up and patrol, with minimal activity expected. An evacuation order for scattered homes east of the fire has been lifted, and road access has been restored. Three firefighters have sustained heat-related injuries but have been treated and released from the hospital.
