2024 Post Fire (CAANF)

Wildfire Status:

The 2024 Post Fire is currently active in Gorman near Hungry Valley Park, moving southeast towards Pyramid Lake. Firefighters from multiple agencies, including the USDA Forest Service, Angeles National Forest, Los Padres National Forest, Los Angeles County Fire Department, and Ventura County Fire Department, are working to construct fire perimeter lines around the fire flank. The fire has grown to 15,690 acres with only eight percent containment. Residents in the area are advised to remain vigilant and be prepared to evacuate if needed, as slightly higher temperatures and lower humidity are expected to continue, with winds increasing up to 30 MPH.

The fire is being fueled by hot, dry, gusty winds and red flag warnings. Firefighters are facing steep terrain and smoky conditions while battling the fire on the southeast side. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Due to the fire, Pyramid Lake, Los Alamos Campground, and Hungry Valley State Vehicular Recreation Area are closed. Evacuation orders have been issued for Hungry Valley Park and Pyramid Lake, with road closures affecting the area south of Ralphs Ranch Road at Quail Lake Road. With critical fire weather conditions approaching, residents are advised to have an emergency plan in place and gather necessary items for evacuation.
