Bingham Fire (ORWIF)

Wildfire Status:

The Bingham Fire, which ignited on September 30, 2024, has burned approximately 199 acres and is currently 94% contained. Located east of the Bingham Ridge Trailhead near Marion Forks, this wildfire is partially situated within an older fire scar and continues to exhibit minimal activity, primarily smoldering within larger vegetation such as stumps and logs. The fire management team has reported that limited drying conditions may lead to increased smoke visibility from the interior of the fire area.

A Complex Incident Management Team from California took command of the fire on October 6, 2024, and efforts to reinforce containment lines and conduct mop-up operations are ongoing. As of now, there are 131 personnel involved in firefighting efforts, with an estimated containment date projected for October 18, 2024. Evacuation alerts have been issued, with Level 3 (Go Now) alerts for a significant area of the Mount Jefferson Wilderness and Level 2 (Get Set) alerts for areas surrounding Marion Forks Campground and fish hatchery. Highway 22 remains open, providing access for emergency services and residents.

The current weather conditions are favorable for firefighting, contributing to the minimal fire activity observed. However, the area remains under scrutiny as firefighters continue to monitor for hotspots and potential flare-ups. The public is urged to stay informed through the Linn County Wildfire Map and to adhere to evacuation orders and fire restrictions in place.
