Turkey Track (CO0212)

Wildfire Status:

The Turkey Track fire, located 8 miles north of Woodland Park, Colorado, has burned an area of approximately 128 acres. As of April 16, 2025, the fire is reported to be fully contained, with 100% of its perimeter secured. The incident is classified as a Type 4 wildfire, and its cause is currently under investigation, being attributed to human activity. The fire has been characterized by minimal behavior, primarily affecting grass, dead and downed trees, and associated debris.

Fire response efforts have involved a total of 31 personnel, with actions planned to transition the incident management to a lower level by the end of the current shift. Significant weather events have recently impacted operations, but a moderating forecast suggests a decrease in fire activity moving forward. Fire officials noted that while there is a possibility of spread if containment lines are breached, no further growth is anticipated following the passage of a cold front.

Current weather conditions are marked by a wind event, which is expected to subside soon, leading to more favorable firefighting conditions.
