The fire, which is attributed to lightning, is currently listed as 50% contained. As of the latest update on August 7, 2024, a total of 10 personnel remain actively engaged in firefighting efforts. Notably, a significant amount of rain fell on the area recently, which has aided in slowing the fire's spread.

Fire response has included the deployment of two engine crews tasked with mopping up and patrolling the fire's lower end. The Gila County Emergency Management team has lifted the Set status for residents west of Highway 188, indicating a positive shift in conditions.
